Doctor OscillatorsSystem advantages:
- Optimum cleaning of roll surface
- Reliabe sheet shedding
- Smooth movement, no dwell time at stroke end
- Low-cost and easy installation - no control panel necessary for some types
- For applications in wet, dry and high-temperature areas
- Longer lifetime of blades and roll surfaces
Oscillation should be ideally provided in all sections of the paper machine, however, oscillation is especially required in the press section, calendar and dryer section. The oscillation of the blade prevents defects in the blade or roll from developing as well improve removal of contaminants from the roll surface. As a result, the useful life of the cylinder and the blade is increased and better paper quality is also achieved.
James Ross manufactures two different types of electromechanical doctor oscillators:
Standard oscillator (Figure 1) The standard oscillator with electric gear motor and enclosed cam is available in different sizes and designs and can be used universally in all areas of the paper machine. Gear motor and cam are specially sealed and can be used both in the wet end and in high-temperature areas. This oscillator is a low-cost and reliable alternative to pneumatic oscillators.
Ross Boss (Figure 2) The Ross Boss represents a new generation of doctor oscillators. As a result of its unique design, the Ross Boss has many advantages over conventional oscillators. A special camshaft is used to convert the rotational movement of the drive into a linear movement. The camshaft is located in a gear-oil-filled casing and thus guarantees a long lifetime and high reliability. The oscillator stroke is 19 mm / 3/4" and runs with no dwell time at the end of the stroke which ensures optimal roll cleaning and sheet shedding. The Ross Boss requires no control panel and can be used for doctor weights up to 3500 kg / 7700 lb.
Pneumatic and hydraulic oscillators: James Ross can also provide pneumatic or hydraulic oscillators suitable for all doctor applications.
