Single DoctorsSystem advantages:
- Optimal cleaning of roll surface - higher paper quality, decreased roll maintenance
- Reliable sheet shedding - decreased machine down time
- Uniform blade loading leading to reduced blade wear and decreased operational costs
- High safety factor in regard to prevention of vibration of the doctor
- Custom designed doctor systems to meet the specific needs of the application and machine layout
- Complete containment of all contaminants doctored from roll surface
James Ross custom designs and manufactures a full range of single doctor systems for all applications on tissue, paper and linerboard machines. Each system is designed to meet the specific needs of the application as well as the existing machine layout. This ensures that the doctor will provide optimal roll surface cleaning as well as reliable sheet shedding when required.
The blade holder is mounted to a doctor back that is designed with a high stiffness to minimize the amount cross machine variation in blade loading as well as provide a high safety factor against vibration. Doctor backs can be manufactured in stainless steel, stainless steel clad or mild steel construction to economically meet the needs of the various environments in the paper machine. The doctor back shape is such that water and crumbs will flow freely away from the tip of the blade and not accumulate on any surface of the doctor back to prevent paper quality issues that may result from contaminants falling on the sheet.
In the design of each doctor, close attention is paid to ensure easy blade changes. Additional doctor retraction mechanisms are also available to facilitate blade changes and roll maintenance in particularly tight installations. Different loading devices are available according to the blade holder type and application requirements. The adjustment of these loading devices in conjunction with the multiple degrees of adjustment provided for in the doctor assembly allow easy optimization of blade wear and roll cleaning.
Various accessories such as catch pans, spray curtains and deflector trays can be integrated into the doctor system to provide complete containment of doctored water and roll contaminants. Saveall type doctors in which the doctor back acts as its own catch pan are available as well and can be used where there is insufficient space for a conventional single doctor and an independent catch pan.
