Linear Brush Showers

System advantages:
  • Unique nozzle cleaning by linear brush movement
  • Fully automatic, semi-automatic or manual activation of brushes available
  • Can be operated via control panel or hand wheel
  • Simple attachment possible to give fully automatic brush activation
  • Optimum operation with process water up to 800 ppm guaranteed
  • No process water pre-clarification by expensive filters required
  • No additional in-line filtering required
  • Effective fabric and felt cleaning can be achieved even with inferior water quality
  • Simple installation, uncomplicated exchange of nozzle inserts and cleaning brushes
Mode of operation of brush cleaning device:
Whether using a hand wheel or the more convenient fully automatic brush activation, the cleaning effect produced by the linear brush movement is unsurpassed. All brushes are attached to a single brush carrier with one brush per nozzle. In normal shower operation, the brushes are rotated into a parking position. This has the effect that the water inflow to the nozzles can take place without any restriction. For cleaning, the brushes are rotated to be in line with the nozzles and move linearly to and fro over the nozzles. In contrast to rotating brushes, the linear movement produces a better cleaning effect as a result of the greater surface area of brush used to clean the nozzle for each cleaning cycle.

Manual brush movement:
By means of a special design, the turning movement of the hand wheel is converted into linear movement. The hand wheel is turned respectively clockwise and counter-clockwise until it stops and in this way a complete cleaning cycle is achieved.

Semi- or fully automatic operation:
By using a pneumatic cylinder, the cleaning process can be conducted continuously and automatically at defined intervals. Control is taken over by a control panel with a "timer". The manual activity otherwise required is eliminated resulting in reduced operational costs.

Use of showers for forming fabrics and press felts:
James Ross supplies suitable shower models for every application (cleaning and lubrication). All models are available with internal brush cleaning. High-pressure oscillating showers with needle jet nozzles are used in fabric/felt cleaning applications. Low-pressure showers with fan jet nozzles are mainly used as lubricating showers with felt suction devices, high-vacuum suction devices and doctors.

Model M23: Stationary with manual cleaning device
Model M24: Oscillating, otherwise identical to M23

Model M33: Stationary with semi-automatic cleaning device
Model M34: Oscillating, otherwise identical to M33

Model M43: Stationary with fully automatic cleaning device
Model M44: Oscillating, otherwise identical to M43

Type 88: All types of showers can also be implemented as type 88 (with outer pipe). This is also referred to as a "pipe-In-a-pipe" shower and allows the shower to be inserted, removed or maintained even during operation of the paper machine.

Advantages for the user:
James Ross showers allow process water (white water) to be used up to 800 ppm. Expensive white water preclarification or filtration is not required. One hundred percent availability of shower nozzles is ensured by effective cleaning of the nozzles. This allows the best possible cleaning of fabrics and felts on the paper machine, increases lifetime and also improves the quality of the paper.
