WE LIVE SUSTAINABILITY...

...and always have.
We work in an eco-friendly way and at our main site we produce almost CO2-neutrally.
Our global presence enables short travel distances. Moreover, we engage in remote work and adopt resource-saving practices.

This is
important to us

Renewable heat

We fulfill all our heat needs at our main site using 100% renewable energy sources.

Green electricity

We rely on electricity sourced from hydropower, wind, and solar energy, while also producing a portion of it internally.

Minimal use of land

We prevent soil sealing by opting for renovations over new constructions and by building vertically.

Minimal energy consumption

Through state-of-the-art technology and efficient construction methods, we optimize our energy requirements.

Regional sustainability

We actively embrace regional sustainability, contributing to the development of healthcare and housing infrastructure.

Efficient mobility

Efficient mobility holds significance for us, and we prioritize electromobility within our vehicle fleet.

Optimized lighting

We have integrated efficient LED lighting solutions across our buildings since 2016.

Renewable heat

Utilizing renewable heat is crucial for cultivating a sustainable future.

At our main site in Teufenbach-Katsch, we ceased the use of natural gas for heat generation back in 1992. Since then, we've met 100% of our heat needs through renewable district heating from biomass, utilizing waste heat from our own production, and geothermal energy. Through our commitment to renewable energy sources, we actively diminish our ecological footprint, making a significant contribution to climate protection.

Green electricity

Our dedication extends beyond the mere procurement of green electricity.

Since as early as 2001, we have exclusively sourced green electricity from renewable sources such as hydropower, wind, and solar energy for our main site in Teufenbach-Katsch and other locations. However, our commitment extends beyond mere procurement; we actively reply on renewable energy sources, aligning with these principles in our corporate values. Across the Group, we've installed over 1.5 MWp of photovoltaic power, allowing us to self-generate a portion of our energy needs — a trend that continues to rise.

Minimal use of land

We prioritize minimal land use by avoiding soil sealing—opting for renovation over new construction and vertical building.

Our company is unwaveringly committed to avoiding soil sealing as a central component of our sustainability initiatives. We prioritize environmentally mindful approach by emphasizing renovation and vertical construction over new land use. Through targeted core renovation of existing buildings, we not only reduce the demand for additional building land but also lower our ecological footprint, achieved by upgrading structures with advanced methods and technology.

Minimal energy consumption

Through state-of-the-art technology and efficient construction methods, we minimize our energy requirements.

To maintain our energy consumption as low as possible, we utilize efficient heating and ventilation systems, photovoltaics, and insulation in both new construction and the renovation of existing buildings. By enhancing the insulation in our existing buildings at the Teufenbach-Katsch site, we were able to reduce heating energy demand by a substantial 200,000 kWh per year.

Regional sustainability

We actively embrace regional sustainability, contributing to the development of healthcare and housing infrastructure.

Recognizing our position as a leading company in our home region, we take our responsibility seriously by constructing healthcare and residential facilities. In Murau region we've developed residential properties to offer affordable living spaces for both our employees and the community. Moreover, we've established a medical center and a clubhouse. We received recognition for this project, earning the timber prize.

Efficient mobility

Efficient mobility holds significance for us, and we prioritize electromobility within our vehicle fleet.

As a company, we are committed to minimizing our ecological footprint. Advocating for efficient and environmentally friendly mobility plays a key role in this endeavor. Our dedication to a sustainable future is reflected in our vehicle fleet, where we prioritize electromobility by expanding our fleet of electric vehicles. Additionally, we actively endorse campaigns for our employees, promoting sustainable mobility through the use of public transport and company bicycles.

Optimized lighting

We began using efficient LED lighting across our buildings already in 2016.

LED technology not only delivers high-quality lighting but also reduce our energy consumption. The resulting reduction in electrical energy consumption at the Teufenbach-Katsch site alone totals more than 70,000 kWh or 14.6 tons of CO2 per year.

Through Ecoworld LCL GmbH, we even provide lighting solutions based on LED technology ourselves:
