IBS Technology Enables €1.89 Million Annual Savings through Raw Material Optimization

IBS Paper Performance Group, technology leader in paper machine optimization, successfully optimized the raw material composition for a producer of kraft papers. On the two-layer Fourdrinier machine, the demand for virgin pulp was significantly reduced and replaced by waste paper through targeted technological measures. This led to savings of over 3% in primary fibers and annual cost savings of 1.89 million euros – all while maintaining consistently high product quality. The return on investment for the implemented measures was achieved within just a few months.

A key component for this success was the installation of the automatically adjustable formation zone the IBS iTABLE®. It allows precise control of sheet formation and activity, thereby ensuring paper quality even with fluctuating raw material composition. The system solution also includes, an automatically adjustable FlexLINE forming board. This enables dynamic adaptation of the dewatering performance to the changed requirements resulting from the increased proportion of waste paper. Additionally, the dewatering capacity in the low-vacuum area was specifically increased to optimally adapt the overall process to the new raw material strategy and ensure stable production.

The successful project was preceded by a detailed audit of the entire wire section by specialists from the IBS Paper Performance Group to precisely identify optimization potential.
